Before we head out for an extended winter break, here’s a press release from KnowledgeLake…
ST. LOUIS, MO—December 21, 2009—KnowledgeLake, Inc., a leading provider of document imaging and capture technologies for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Enterprise Content Management solutions, today announced a new version of KnowledgeLake Imaging for SharePoint.
KnowledgeLake Imaging for SharePoint is a platform based solution for managing unstructured content directly from SharePoint. The new version of KnowledgeLake Imaging for SharePoint, version 3.0, will offer many new features including a Silverlight Document Viewer, document encryption, the ability to view PDF and Office documents (in addition to images), and a thumbnail view in the search results.
With the Silverlight Document Viewer, KnowledgeLake takes full advantage of the latest technology from Microsoft. The Silverlight Document Viewer enables users to view common document types from SharePoint such as PDF, TIFF, and Office documents. It also allows users to annotate TIFF and PDF files using image stamps, highlights, lines, and sticky notes.
Another exciting new technology feature in KnowledgeLake Imaging for SharePoint is Document Encryption. The Document Encryption technology provides a solution for encrypting sensitive data on electronic or paper documents. Document Encryption enables a user to select a zone on the page of any TIFF or PDF file and encrypt or decrypt that zone with a password. It does not require copies of a document to be stored without encryption and it provides the ability to encrypt and decrypt both paper and electronic files.
“KnowledgeLake made the decision to release the Silverlight Document Viewer early and include this feature in Imaging for SharePoint 3.0 so our customers can take advantage of the new feature immediately,” said Chris Caplinger, Chief Technology Officer of KnowledgeLake, Inc. “The Silverlight Document Viewer was originally planned for our SharePoint 2010 release, but we knew this was an attractive feature that our customers could benefit from without waiting for SharePoint 2010. In addition, when our SharePoint 2010 software is completed the viewer will contain even more features to make it the most complete web-based document viewer on the market.”
