Temis is a company that has been working in the text analytics space for the past ten years. It was founded in 2000 by former employees of IBM who had developed that company’s text mining solutions. They have launched a new tool called the Luxid Content Pipeline, which collects content, applies relevant metadata annotations, and applies search, discovery, and sharing functions to the data.
New York, NY—December 7, 2009—TEMIS, the leading provider of text analytics solutions for the enterprise, today announces the launch of Luxid Content Pipeline, a new content collection module integrated within the latest version of its flagship content discovery solution, Luxid 5.1.
Luxid Content Pipeline is a breakthrough component that broadens the scope of services available in Luxid 5.1. This easy-to-manage platform efficiently collects contents from a full range of information sources and feeds them into Luxid. After annotating content with relevant metadata, Luxid then applies search, discovery and sharing tools to the enriched content and provides users with real-time content analytics and knowledge discovery.
This innovation positions Luxid at the heart of the organization, relevant both for timely updates of on-going discovery processes as well as for situations when current events require immediate action.
“Luxid Content Pipeline is a new strategic module of Luxid 5.1 that expands TEMIS’s product portfolio to cope with an increasing demand from our customers to feed our robust platform with relevant data”, said Eric Brégand, CEO of TEMIS. “With this new component, TEMIS now offers a complete and unmatched solution from data access to information delivery,” added Brégand.
Luxid Content Pipeline accesses content by three different methods:
- Structured Access connects and automates the collection of documents from leading structured content sources such as Dialog, DataStar, ISI Web of KnowledgeSM, Ovid, STN, Questel, EBSCOhost, Factiva, LexisNexis, MicroPatent, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Minesoft, Esp@cenet, PubMed.
- Web Access tracks corporate websites, blogs and social networks, and downloads their content thanks to a powerful web crawling tool available to customers “as a Service.”
- Enterprise Content Management Access connects to corporate knowledge repositories such as EMC Documentum, EMC Documentum CenterStage and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
To be as universally compatible as possible with a wide variety of document sources, Luxid Content Pipeline also natively supports the integration of UIMA (Unstructured Information Management Architecture) collection readers, enabling the connection to these sources using UIMA standard protocol and format conversion.
Open Text is continuing its ongoing expansion of enterprise linkages and integration options with a couple of new Oracle tie-ins, for content access and accounts payable. Of particular interest here are the content-access functions, which allow users in an Oracle-based enterprise to access content from both the Oracle interface and the Open Text ECM interface. Open Text (see press release, below) says this “enables companies to organize and manage all content, including legacy content, in virtual folders and provides an easy and low-cost way to archive documents.” Details follow in the press release.
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada—2009-12-07—Open Text Corporation, a global leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that it has expanded its portfolio of ECM solutions for Oracle Applications with the introduction of new content access and accounts payable solutions. Using these Open Text offerings, enterprises can associate Oracle transactions with business content to increase process efficiency, reduce operating costs and more effectively manage risk.
In any company there are two primary streams of information. One is the structured-data side driven by Oracle Applications. The second is the flow of electronic and paper content assets that surround a transaction, ranging from simple email confirmations to formal contracts as well as paper documents. Enterprises that can successfully correlate these two streams of information can realize significant productivity gains. That is where Open Text ECM solutions for Oracle come in, enabling customers to take full advantage of the Open Text ECM Suite.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Oracle and are committed to continued development using Oracle Fusion middleware to deliver innovative ECM technology and solutions integrated with Oracle Applications,” said Rich Buchheim, Vice President of Oracle Solutions at Open Text. “Today we are announcing completely new capabilities to help Oracle customers significantly improve content access and archiving, while also introducing extensive enhancements to our leading accounts payable solution for Oracle.”
Open Text Content Access for Oracle Open Text Content Access for Oracle is a new offering that provides a single point of access to Oracle and non-Oracle data and content assets from either the Oracle user interface or from the Open Text ECM Suite. It enables companies to organize and manage all content, including legacy content, in virtual folders and provides an easy and low-cost way to archive documents. Organizations often must reuse the same business content throughout multiple applications, even though parts of documents are tied to specific applications such as ERP or CRM. Open Text Content Access for Oracle provides a means of sharing this business content across different applications for a single face to customers, partners or employees.
While regulations vary around the world, they all require that organizations track, manage, and retain business information. Open Text Content Access for Oracle addresses evolving compliance requirements by leveraging the ECM Suite to securely store content for designated periods, link related information, provide an audit history for corporate content, and enable organizations to quickly access any document on demand.
Open Text Accounts Payable for Oracle Part of the Open Text ECM Suite, Open Text Accounts Payable for Oracle is a complete solution that streamlines the procurement-to-pay cycle. It leverages Oracle Fusion Middleware to integrate into the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise, and Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Key capabilities include invoice routing and approval, invoice management, document and data capture, workflow management, content storage, and process reporting.
The latest release of Open Text Accounts Payable for Oracle, version 3.0, features extensive enhancements that improve usability, increase configuration flexibility, provide more robust auditing, enhance process archiving, and simplify administration. To help staff members access the right information at the right time, comments and attachments can now be added at any step in the workflow process.
In addition, the new release supports JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 (and above) and delivers tighter integration with ERP financial modules. It allows distributed processing (coding, review, approval, and vouchering) inside or outside of the JD Edwards system. This approach helps eliminate bottlenecks and distributes workload by allowing the people “in the know” to review, approve, and enter the invoice data directly into the Open Text solution without the need for JD Edwards user licenses or direct accounts payable involvement, unless desired.
Open Text is a partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork. For more information on the solutions, go to: http://www.opentext.com/2/global/sol-products/sol-pro-extensions-oracle.htm.
Richard McManus had an excellent post on ReadWriteWeb yesterday in which he named his picks for the top 10 semantic web products of the year. There is no question that 2009 has been the year that has brought Linked Data and other semantic web concepts to the forefront. Here at damTRENDS we have even documented a series of US government stimulus investments (here, here, and here) in projects that utilize or push forward the development of semantic technologies.
Here’s the ReadWriteWeb Top 10 list, submitted for your perusal:
- Google Search Options and Rich Snippets
- Feedly
- Apture
- Zemanta
- Open Calais 4.0
- BBC’s Semantic Music Project
- Glue
- Freebase
- DBpedia
- Data.gov
If you haven’t yet understood what the semantic web is all about and why it’s been so highly touted this year (and promoted, liberally, by Sir Tim Berners-Lee), a detailed read of the Top 10 posting should do the trick for you.
Although I’m always in favor of live gatherings and face-to-face meetings, business realities and the growth in social networking have made it more and more difficult in recent years to pull together large audiences and vendor sponsorships for industry events. Nevertheless, there’s a new event on the horizon.
News and details are out officially this week about the coming debut of a conference and expo for users of digital asset management systems. The new event will be held in conjunction with the recently renamed “Createasphere” conference, which will take place in Los Angeles, February 17–18, 2010. As has been the case with Henry Stewart and Gilbane conferences, damTRENDS is pleased to be one of the media sponsors of the Createasphere DAM conference.
The new conference will take place at Universal City in Los Angeles, California. DAM will be a separate, co-located event at February’s Createasphere and during September’s New York Createasphere.
“We have just presented one of our most successful expos ever, surpassing our attendance, exhibition, and speaker goals,” said Kristin Petrovich, President of HD EXPO. ” As HD EXPO completes the transition to Createasphere at the end of 2009, we believe that our shows have grown deep roots in the community. The advent of DAM will address the industry’s growing interest and need for Digital Asset Management.” HD EXPO – Createasphere recently presented its two-day, flagship expo, November 4–5, in Burbank, California.
The conference management provided some background on their thinking and positioning:
Deciding to launch Createasphere’s Digital Asset Management came after thoughtful analysis. Over the course of the past two years, Petrovich and her team carefully looked at the industry’s critical needs. The message that consistently came back to them was that management and manipulation of entertainment content is, and will be, the most important topic for the foreseeable future. With global spending on DAM estimated to increase from $500 million to $1 billion in the next five years, Petrovich believes that ignoring the critical nature of DAM-related topics and business would be shortsighted, and that DAM is a natural progression for the company that has spent the past eight years speaking directly to content creators. “The content, and what happens to it, is of profound interest to content creators and content owners. That directs us to address DAM and its implications,” concluded Petrovich.
Mary Yurkovic has been tapped to manage the event. Yurkovic has spent the better part of the past decade at Playboy Enterprises where she was Manager, Digital Asset Management and Distribution. The Createasphere DAM agenda has been announced and includes a number of critical topics that are centered on entertainment assets. Conference sessions, keynote, and round table discussions will set the tone for a broad-based event that appeals to experts as well as offering fundamental information for those professionals who need to understand the increasingly critical issues surrounding DAM. Topics include Social Media and DAM, The problems and solutions of storage, Monetizing Valuable Video Assets, 12 round table discussions and more.
